Types of Pronoun


  • Demonstrative Pronouns – this, that, these, those
  • Personal pronouns – I, you, he, she, it, we, you and they
  • Interrogative pronouns – who, whom, whose, what, which
  • Indefinite pronouns – anyone, several, none, somebody, whichever, whoever
  • Possessive pronouns – mine, its, her, his, yours, ours, theirs, whose
  • Relative pronouns – who, which, that, whom, whose
  • Reflexive pronouns – Myself, yourself, himself, herself, itself, ourselves, yourselves, themselves
  • Intensive pronouns – myself, ourselves, itself
  • Reciprocal pronouns – each other, one another

It is used to point to something specific within a sentence.

Personal pronouns

It is used to represent people or things.

He is a boy.

You are a doctor.

I am a writer.


Interrogative pronouns

It is used to ask questions.

Who is that?

What do you want?

Which colour is this?


Indefinite pronouns

It is used to ask questions.

Who is that?

What do you want?

Possessive pronouns

It replaces a noun and shows ownership.

This is her bag.

That is his book.
