French Subject Pronouns and Verbs

A subject is a part of a sentence that contains the person or thing performing the action in a sentence. It can be a noun, pronoun, person, thing or place who is doing the task. These are the lists of three different persons with French audio guide for the pronunciation of the subjects in French.

2st Person Singular you tu

Primary Auxiliary Verbs

The verb that act as a main in the construction of tense is called main verb, like – am, has, is, was.

I am je suis
I am a girl je suis une fille
He has a car. Il a une voiture.
She is a doctor. Elle est médecin.
He is a student. Il est un étudiant.
She was a nurse. C’était une infirmière.




Some auxiliary verbs used as a lexical verbs, like – to be, to have.

I am going. Je vais.
He has worked. Il a travaillé.
I had told him. Lui avais-je dit.
She has come. Elle est venue.
He will come soon. Il viendra bientôt.
Amma has lost her bag. Amma a perdu son sac.
He is running. Il est en cours d’exécution.



Modal Auxiliary Verbs

I can speak French. Je peux parler français.
You can go now. Tu peux partir maintenant.
It may rain today. Il peut pleuvoir aujourd’hui.
It may be true. C’est peut-être vrai.
He should not go there. Il ne devrait pas y aller.
He must be honest. Il doit être honnête.
I need your help. J’ai besoin de ton aide.
